Attachment and Attachment Disorders

Attachment behaviours provide an insight into the nature of children’s attachment relationships. They serve to keep the caregiver connected to the child physically (my caregiver is here for me), emotionally (My caregiver understands and shares my feelings) and cognitively (my caregiver is aware of me).

This course provides further insight into:

  • what the term attachment is

  • what attachment styles there

  • how healthy and unhealthy attachments can develop due to the relationships that are developed throughout the early years and into childhood.

The course also looks at what attachment looks like and what those working with children and young people can do to support the different attachment styles.
